Charger boys get on a roll

The WWG Charger boys
basketball team has won
three of their last four games
in convincing fashion, with
double digit victories over
Adrian, Edgerton, and Fulda.
Kennedy Her 2, and Walker
Christians 2 rounded out
the scoring column for the
Chargers. WWG shot over
60% from inside the arc on
the game.
TMB 58 - WWG 51
Tuesday night the
Chargers were back at home
and hosting non conference
rival TMB. WWG got off
to a nice start, grabbing a
7-3 lead as Walker Christians
made a deep three on an assist
from Matt Otto. Tyson Berg
picked up a loose ball basket
with 6:18 to go which made
the score TMB 23 WWG
22. Christians knocked
down his second three of the
half and tied the score at
27-27 with 3:00 to go. TMB
answered with a pair of three
pointers and took a 35-32 into
the locker room. WWG had
only three first half turnovers
WWG 77 - Adrian 56
Last Friday evening the
Chargers defeated the visit-
ing Adrian Dragons in front
of a large parents night
crowd. WWG led 38-27
at halfiime and continued
to roll in the second half
for a 77-56 win. Shane
Buchman had a monster night
for the Chargers, scoring
34 points (14-19 shooting)
and 12 rebounds. Randy
Knutson added career highs
in points (16) and rebounds
(15). Alex Knutson chipped
in 12 points and 8 assists.

and limited the Panthers to
just two offensive rebounds,
but made only 12-36 shots
in the first 18 minutes. In
the second half TMB briefly
stretched the lead' to double
digits, but the Chargers used
good defense and rebound-
ing to keep TMB in their
sights. Alex Knutson made
a three pointer with 6:00 to
play, curing the TMB lead to
52-46. WWG failed to score
on their next four posses-
sions as both teams struggled
offensively in the final six
minutes. Alex Knutson led
all scorers with 22 points,
while Walker Christians
added 10, MaR Otto 7, Shane
Buchman 6, Randy Knutson
3, Tyson Berg 2, and Brody
Williams 1 added scores for
WWG. WWG shot just over
30% on the night, compared
to 45% for TMB.
WWG 70 - Edgerton 47
Thursday evening
the Chargers traveled to
Edgerton, a place that has
not treated Charger teams
very nicely over the past
decade. The Chargers held.
the Flying Dutchmen score-
less for the first five min-
utes of the game and had a
9-3 lead at 11:45. Edgerton
answered with a 10-2 run
and grabbed a 13-11 lead
with 9:10 to play. WWG
answered as Brody Williams
capped a 10-0 run with a pair
of free throws following an
offensive rebound. Mitchell
Jarmer scored on a nifty
backdoor cut to make the
score 32-21 just before half-
time. The Chargers allowed
zero offensive rebounds in
the first half. In the second
half the Chargers picked up
the pace and scored some
easy transition baskets, while
taking advantage of several
Edgerton turnovers. Tristan
Joel assisted Shane Buchman
at 10:07 giving WWG a 52-34
