SENTINEL TRIBUNE On Record Wednesday, February 3, 2010 Page 2 Obituary Benjamin Alexander Horning A private faro- ily visitation for Benjamin Alexander Homing was held on Tuesday and Benjamin's funer- al was 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 20, at Grace Lutheran Church, Ridgecrest, CA. Benjamin Alexander Homing died on Thursday, January 14, 2010 in Ridgecrest, CA. Benjamin was the infant son of Daniel and Abbey Homing. Benjamin was born at the Ridgecrest Hospital on September 21, 2009. Ben will be remembered for the love and strength he demonstrated in his ...................... few months of life. His family will always remem- ber his endearing smile and his sweet disposition. Survivors include his parents and older brother, William. He is also survived by grandparents, Donald and Marjorie Homing of Tracy, MN; William Eichman of Owatonna, MN; and Karen Eichman of Burnsville, MN; aunts and uncles, Meredith (Corey) Johnson; Bozeman, MT; and Rachel (Curt) Bakken, Eden Prairie, MN; cousins Soren, Doretta, Elsie Johnson and Ella, Nolan and Leah Bakken. Although Ben's life was short in time, it was deep in love and purpose. The family prefers memorials in Ben's name to the Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House. Agnes C. Zgoda Funeral Mass for Agnes C. Zgoda were held 10:30 Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ivanhoe with Father Paul Schumacher as the Celebrant. Inurement will be in Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Online registry at Agnes C. Zgoda, age 95, of Westbrook, MN, formerly of Ivanhoe, MN, died Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Westbrook, MN. Agnes Skorczewski was born to Frank & Anna (Shaikoski) Skorczewski on May 25, 1914 in Royal Township, Lincoln County, MN. She was baptized in the Catholic faith and was a member of the Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ivanhoe. She attended District 13 School until the 8th grade. She worked various nanny jobs in Minneapolis, Wisconsin and Ivanhoe. On December 29, 1940, she married Joseph Zgoda. They farmed for many years and in 1961 they moved to Ivanhoe. During her lifetime in Ivanhoe, Agnes worked at the Eagle Cafl as a pastry chef. She also worked at several other restaurants and was often found in the kitchen of the Senior Dining when it opened. Agnes was aive in her church and did volunteer work in the community. In 2004, Agnes entered the Divine Providence Nursing Home in Ivanhoe. She transferred to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Westbrook in 2005 to be closer to her fam- ily. While a resident at Good Samaritan, she made many friends, (was crowned Queen of the Home in 2006) and had as she called it her apartment. Survivors include her children, Bonnie (Donald) DeGidio of Stillwater, MN, Janice (George) Robertson of Buffalo, MN, and Judy (Dean) Lichty of Lake Shetek, MN; five grandchil- dren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Jack and Benny Skorczewski and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Joe; son, John; one grandson and two brothers. Obi-uary Steven Jeffry Sackett Lynda LaRayne Sackett A memorial service for Steven and Lynda was held Saturday, January 30, at 1:00 p.m. at the Canyon View Vineyard Chapel. Steven Jeffry Sackett was born August 6, 1949 in Springfield, MN to Virgin H. and Mary Ann Sackett. They moved to Storden, MN in 1956. He raduated from Storden High chool in 1967. Steve went to Jackson Vocational School and graduated in the Electrical Field in 1969, which he spent his life doing. Lynda LaRayne (Schmidt) Sackett was born August 29, 1950 in Fort Riley, KS to Harold and Dodie Schmidt. They moved to Westbrook, MN in 1963. She graduated from Westbrook High School in 1968. Lynda attended.St. Cloud Beauty Academy and received her cosmetology license. Steven and Lynda were married on March 14, 1970 in Westbrook, MN. They had their three children while living in MN; son, Darby and two daughters, Tierney and Tara. Steven served in the Army National Guard for nine years in MN until their move to Colorado in 1980. He continued his service in Grand Junction until 1987. He worked on the Unical Oil Shale project in Parachute, CO and spent 13 years after that traveling for various companies before finding his final and favorite position with Samuel Engineering. Lynda worked for Beckner Power Insurance for 12 years. She left Beckner Power to start her own business with her son. In 2004 Lynda joined Steven and they traveled together for the next 5 years. After Steve's diagnosis of a rare disease in 2009, he and Lynda went to the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ for further treatment until his passing on December 11,2009. In September, 2009, while in Phoenix, Lynda was diagnosed with cancer. She came to Grand Junction to spend the holidays with her family and joined Steven in heaven on December 31, 2009. Steven was preceded in death by his father, Virgin Sackett in 1993. Steven was survived by his wife Lynda; his mother Mary Ann Sackett, Baxter, MN; sister, Paulette (Steve) Lendtvedt, Baxter, MN; and brother Scott (Debbie) Sackett, San Antonio, TX. Lynda was preceded in death by her husband Steven; her mother, Dodie Schmidt in 1999; and her brother, Kenyon Schmidt in 2006. She is survived by her father, Harold Schmidt, Westbrook, MN; brother, Lonny (Jannet) Schmidt, Glencoe, MN; and sister-in-law, Deb Schmidt, Spring TX. Steven and Lynda were survived together by their three children, Darby (Alice) Sackett; Tierney (Leonard) Page, and Tara Ricks all of Grand Junction, CO; seven grandchildren, and finally, their beloved mini schnauzer, Sophie.
