Access to specialty consultations help suspect ed stroke patients In the Fall of 2014, Sanford Westbrook gained telestroke capabilities, which gives patients believed to be having a stroke access to consulta- tions from a neurologist. Provided through Sanford One Connect Emergency, telestroke allows Sanford Westbrook to instantly con- nect to a Sanford neurologist via two-way interactive video technology. The neurologist can then assist in the diag- nosis of a patient with stroke like symptoms. The neurol- ogist works with the provid- ers at the local hospital to determine the best treatment options for the patient. "Telestroke has been a great asset to our medical team, as I have seen the pos- itive benefts that telestroke has had for stroke patient care and provider decisions, as well as family decisions," said Jane Sabinske, RN, DON of Sanford Westbrook. The telestroke program lends itself to the support of rural patients, families and health care facilities by allowing patients to be treated locally, while ensuring stand- ardization of care for stroke patients and enhancing the continuum of care between facilities. "Utilizing telemedicine gives the physician the abil- ity to lay eyes on the patient in a regional hospital. Being able to interview patients firsthand and observe neuro- logical clinical exams direct- ly helps solidify my deci- sion in administrating tPA," said Jitendra Sharma, MD, interventional neurologist at Sanford Health. "A picture is worth a thousand words and in our case it's worth a life." se , , By Pastor Rob Adams Rescue the Perishing And of some have compassion, making a difference: and oth- ers save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. (Jude 22, 23) The context is the continuing threat of false teaching. Those who know the Lord are to "be involved in the often painful and exhausting work of rescuing those who are blind and lost." In these verses, Jude expresses that there are different ways people need to be approached. It is the reaching of the lost, but it is reaching souls in light of the fact that they may be listen- ing to false teachers. Therefore, believers need to rebuke those who are confused. Believers need to have mercy on those who are convinced. They need to use caution with those who are committed. Through the Lord, believers can make a difference The confused are to be rebuked. And of some have compas- sion, making a difference. The idea behind this word 'compas- sion' may be to confront, reprove, or face squarely. Another translation reads: And have mercy on some, who are doubting. He who is attracted to a false teaching is wavering in his trust in God's Word. The person is 'at odds with himself.' He is not certain any more what he believes. He has heard some contrary teachings and is uncertain about what he had heard from God's Word. He needs a listening ear and loving answers. The convinced are to receive mercy. And others save with fear, pulling them out ofthefire. This refers to the person who is about to fall into the grip of false teaching. He has gone further than doubt and is at the edge of the precipice. He is about to leave and join with some false group. Should he fall into the false teaching of the apostate, then likely he was never born again. He will face the same judgment of fire as his false teachers. The believer needs to snatch this person before he is gone. Caution is to be used with the committed. Hating even the garment spotted by theflesh. Those who have fallen into false teachings may still come to Christ. There is still hope. They must not be abandoned. Though we hate the sin, we must love the sinner. Yet, Jude's emphasis here is that we must take care that we do not become deceived ourselves in our efforts to reach them...'Our garments will become spotted.' Not every believer is mature enough to delve into the teachings of apos- tasy in order to understand and confront the apostate. That is why we need to be so careful what we read, watch and hear. The only hope of the apostate is to repent and come to the truth. And of some have compassion, making a difference. Can the believer make a difference in this world? Yes, if he believes and practices God's Word. John Geddie, a Canadian missionary, went to the New Hebrides islands in the mid-1800s. What he found were can- nibals, considered to be one of the most dangerous groups of people in the world at that time. Violence, thievery, and murder were common. He wrote in his diary in 1849, "In the darkness, degradation, pollution, and misery that surrounds me, I look forward in faith to the time when some of these poor islanders will unite in the triumph song of ransomed souls." Geddie died just before Christmas in 1872. Inscribed on his tombstone was this testimony. "In memory of John Geddie. When he landed in 1848, there were no Christians here. When he died in 1872 there were no heathen here." God's power to save and change lives is still in operation today! ibcwbmn@centurytel.net WESTBROOK LIBRARY By Kari Ourada Ruta Sepetys, Find Her by Monday 10:00-6:00 p.m. Lisa Gardner Missing Tuesday 10:00-6:00 p.m. Pieces by Heather Wednesday 1:00-6:00 p.m. Gudenkauf, My Name is Thursday 10:00-5:00 p.m. Lucy Barton by Elizabeth Friday 10:00-5:00 p.m. Strout, and Robert B.
