Cottonwood County District Court P.~t/" fa.t~ March 1- 7, 1991 Speeding: $44.00 - Dale Gene Martin, Reading, MN; Korey Lee After all the fuss of the past week made by our former Governor Goofy, it is probably redundant to get a shot in from this corner, but the temptation is just too much to pass up! Just how much of his tom foolery he believes the Mlnnesotans will tolerate is an unknown factor. After all, he did desert the state and even the country after he was defeated following his first term as governor, and on his return, no matter that he was completely out of touch with the state or even the U.S. for that matter, the Iron Range voted him into office again. It is this corner's hope history will not be repeated in our next election for governor. Heaven forbid the man should return after stating he is returning and ends up in St. Paul once more. We can also ,reflect on the $56,000.00 in pensions he will be receiving from the state of Minnesota every year and will be spending those pension funds in Europe every year. That should add a bit to our deficit over a period of a few years. As though taking and running with $56,000.00 each year is not enough, Perpich will be lobbying with our Congress to get a dole of our hard earned tax money for his new found homelands--note that is plural, as he seems to be adopting several countries as his new homeland. He has already been on Capital Hill begging for money for Yugoslavia, he stated he will be representing other former communist governments including, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Poland. He will be a "consultant" for those countries, and we can bet that consulting will Include a request for funds from the United States taxpayers ! An article in .the news recently may not concern our rural area to a great extent, but there was a warning to parents concerning stickers that children paste on their hands, arms, face, etc. Parents are cautioned to be sure of the source of those stickers, and be certain just where they were obtained by the youngsters. It seems in some areas, those stickers are laced with drugs such as LSD and could be fatal to the children. Hopefully, we do not have demonic individuals in our area that would be selling such dangerous Items to our youngsters, but one never knows and it is a good idea to be on the alert.
