Grewing Funeral services were held for Laura A. Grewing Thursday, March 7, 1991 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lucan, MN. Rev. Dan Hermanson and Rev. Donald Comnick officiated at the 1:30 p.m. service. Interment was in the Triniiy Lutheran Cemetery at Lucan, MN. Laura Augusta Crewing was born March 4, 1907 in Johnsonville Township, Redwood County, Minnesota. Her parents were Traugott and Sarah (Linnemann) Klante. She grew up in Johnsonville Township. She was baptized and confirmed at the Johnsonville Township Methodist . Chqrch. She attended country school. After school she operated restaurants in Vesta, Clements, and in Montana. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran in Lucan. On November 19, 1960 she married Robert Grewing on the Crewing farm in Underwood Township. The couple settled on a farm south of Vesta until 1978 whcn they retired and moved into Vesta. On March 3, 1991 Laura died at the Redwood Falls Hospital at the age of 83 years, 11 months, and 29 days. She is survived by her husband, Robert of Vesta; two sisters, Bertha Dunne of Lucan and Mabel Brandt of Portland, OR; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and four sisters. Zwach Endowment for the Study of Local Government at Southwest State University in Marshall, MN, has received $5,000 from the estate of the former congressman and legislator from Lucan. The contribution was announced by Betty Lockwood, development officer with the SSU Foundation. The endowment was established in Zwach's honor a decade ago to promote better understanding of local government through researc3L study and teaching. Zwach's public career spanned 40 years. He served in the Minnesota Legislature from 1934 to 1966 and in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1966 until his retirement on January 1, 1975. He died on November 11, 1990 at the age of 83.
