Lorraine Benson, Debra attended the 50th anniversary of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wotschke at Sleepy Eye Sunday, Mrs. Benson and her twin sister, Mrs. Dennis Vogel of New Ulm, were in charge of the coffee service. Herman Gremmert of St. Ansgar, IA was a dinner guest Friday in the Clem Van Hecke home. FORTY YEARS AGO March 15, 1951 Two members of the High School Loggers were named to the Straight 14 All-Conference Basketball Team, selected by the five coaches. They were AI Farber and Ted Tyler. Frank Gremmert was awarded the Grand Championship on his entry of a dozen large white eggs at the Egg Show held in connection with the Institute here Saturday. Another blizzard blocks highways: Digging out process underway. Third snowstorm in two weeks. Nearly all activities were put aside for snow shoveling this week as the third big snowstorm in less than two weeks completely disrupted traffic. The tie-up was and is the worst in years. Because of the bad road conditions the Walnut Grove Public Schools have been closed all week. Floyd and Eldora Bakken entertained their brothers and sisters on Tuesday afternoon. They went to help Floyd celebrate his 80th birthday. Thursday evening Roy and Bertha Syverson were at the Rev. and Mrs. Henry Kor home in Sioux Falls to help celebrate the birthdays of Henry and Kristen Kor. Jenny Syverson who attends college in Sioux Falls was also present. The brothers and sisters and spouses of Floyd and Eldora Bakken enjoyed a poduck lunch at their home, Tuesday afternoon, March 9th to honor Floyd on his 80th birthday. Saturday afternoon Sandy Carter visited Jo Anderson at the Grove Apartments. Irene Pulver of Mankato is spending a few days with Irene Bondeson at Grove Apartments. Jeff Merfeld of Minneapolis brought Sara Peterson of Boston from the airport to spend a few days with her mother, Pat Peterson. Jeff returned to Minneapolis on Sunday. Irene Pulver of Mankato visited with Margaret DeBates on Sunday afternoon. Dorothy Peterson and Henry Helgeson of Lamberton visited in the Roger Krinke and family home at Belview on Sunday. Milroy The Mel Bergmans returned home last Wednesday from a 6 weeks trip spent in Harlinger, TX. While there they visited with the Harry Zwachs, Norman DeBleicks and John Kagels who were vacationing in the area. They also visited with their grandson and wife, the Brian Sauters. Brian is an Ensign in the Air Force and is stationed at IQngsville, TX. World Day of Prayer was held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church Friday. The program was on the journey together with the women of Kenya. Taking part in the program were Evelyn Brakke, Vonnie Tomasek, Janice Peters, Cheryl Bitker, Millie Comnick, and Myrt Parish. Varlaine Schlemmer was the organist. Barb Wixon and Rev. Don Comnick sang a duet. The ushers were Violet Lovald and Lillian Petersen. Women from Ashford Presbyterian, St. Michaels Catholic Church, and Trinity Lutheran and Our Lady of Victory of Lucan were guests. The lunch was served by Group I. The Bible study groups of Our Savior's Lutheran met Thursday. Faith with Fern Christensen with Millie Comnick, leader; Comfort with June Pool, Pastor Dan Hermanson, leader and Witness with Peggy Hagemann with Sham Van De Wiele, leader. Tom and Sherri Patzer, Ryan and Amanda of Mitchell, SD spent last weekend at the Charles Tomasek home. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Dunterman attended the 50th wedding anniversary of her sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Cecil Snyder at their home in Marshall last Sunday. Ed Maroney returned home last Wednesday from a five weeks vacation. He visited his son, Pat Maroney, in San Diego, CA and with his daughter and family, Ann and Ralph Cordell, in Las Vegas, NV. t Don and Vicki Pals, Jonathan, Virginia and Elizabeth are new residents in Milroy. They purchased the Steve Marks house and moved here from Fulda. Jeff and Rhonda Christensen and Beth of San Francisco, CA are spending two weeks with his parents, Cedric and Patty Christensen and her parents, Paul and Sharon Kirsh in Marshall and with other friends and relatives. Edith Ousky spent last Sunday and Monday in Elgin, NE where she attended the golden wedding of her cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Nielsen and visited with other relatives. Wayne Kramer and Karen of Arlington visited with the Lyle Kramers last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Dolan and Mr. and Mrs. John Kagel attended the funeral of Laura Grewing at Trinity Lutheran in Lucan Thursday.
