RSVP receives grant RSVP of Southwest MN has been awarded a grant from the Area Agency on Aging of Southwest MN to develop a volunteer respite care program. RSVP Respite Care will serve all nine counties of Region 8 in southwest MN. The service will offer short-term (2-:3 hours) care and companionship to peo- ple over 60 who have a long- term health condition and are cared tbr in their home. RSVP Respite Care will give the caregiver a few hours to do errands, keep appoint- ments, have coffee with friends, etc. Volunteers for the program are currently being recruited and will receive an initial 3-hour training plus ongoing train- ing as they serve in the respite program. RSVP Respite is also seeking peo- ple who need respite care. The Cottonwood County con- tact is RSVP coordinator, Priscilla Jacobson, 831- 1803. Jacobson is interested in speaking to groups about RSVP Respite Care.
