Allison Marie Johnson Brent and Betsy Johnson, Madison Lake, MN, are happy to announce the birth of their daughter, Allison Marie. She was born at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato on April 12, 2004 and weighed 7 lbs. 6 ozs. and 21 inches long. Paternal grandparents are Dennis and Karen Johnson of Lake Crystal. Maternal grandparents are Glen and Joan Iverson of Lamberton. Great grand- parents are Gerald Noomen, Westhrook, Eleanor and Lenor Bakken, Lamberton, and Edna Lessman, Walnut Grove. OBITUARIES Melvin Herbert Rachuy Funeral services for Melvin Herbert Rachuy, 83, of Rosehill Township, rural Westbrook, were held on Saturday, April 17, 2004 at the Grace Lutheran Church, Westbrook, with Rev. Roy Williams officiating. Interment was held ip Rosehill Township Cemetery. Melvin Herbert Rachuy was born December 30, 1920 in Rosehill Township, rural Westbrook, to Frederick and Amanda (Hochbaum) Rachuy. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith on January 12, 1921 and confirmed April 5, 1936 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Rosehill Township. Melvin attended School District #56 and Westbrook High School. On July 7, 1962, Melvin was united in marriage to Vera Peterson at First Lutheran Church in Hinckley, MN. To this union two daughters were born. Together the couple made their home as the fourth generation on the family farm where Melvin had lived since he was 9 years old. Melvin was a devoted husband and a dedicated father and grandfather. He was an active member of the Lutheran church, where he served on the church council for many years, several synod committees, and as a teacher of the Bethel Series and other Bible studies. Melvin also twice served as a voting member of the churchwide assembly of the ELCA. He loved the outdoors including bird watching and planting trees. He farmed the land and enjoyed raising sheep. Melvin also took pleasure in writing and was espe- cially fond of poetry. Melvin died on April 13, 2004 at the Westbrook Health Care Center, he was 83 years old. It was the season of Easter. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Vera; daugh- ter Ruth and husband Dwight Gertner of Sioux Falls, SD and their children, Benjamin, Rachel, and Daniel; daughter the Rev. Charlene and husband the Rev. Dr. David Cox of Redmond, WA, and their children, Georgeta, Gyltena, Kyle, Brian and Steven; brother Elmer Rachuy of Glenwood, MN; sister Estella Gertner of San Bemardino, CA; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant broth- er, sister-in-law Vivian Rachuy, brother-in-law Alfred Gertner, great nephew Kevin Thumann, and great niece Holly Kocher. Milo Meling Milo died January 18, 2004 in Las Vegas, NV. He graduated in 1948 from Walnut Grove High School and was in the service. He and his wife, Mary Lou (De Moore) Meling operated and owned motel and restaurant businesses. Milo and Mary Lou celebrated their 50th anniversary. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou and son, Michael, Las Vegas, NV. Preceding him in death were his parents, and brother, Truman.
