His name, Jesus, means 'Jehovah is Salvation.' The one thing that holds all true believ- ers together, in the midst of many things about which we may disagree, is that Jesus alone is able to save men from the guilt, power, and penalty of sin. Jesus was born a Savior. For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord (Luke 2:11). That is the whole reason why He came into the world. He was born to die. The myrrh given at his birth was a picture of His burial. His whole life was lived in the shadow of the Cross. For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost (Luke 19:10) He died a Savior. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior," who will have all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth;for there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus," who gave himself a ransom for all to be testified in due time (1 Tim 2:3-6). His whole purpose was to die to save lost sinners, to put away sin. He saves by His blood, and only He can save. He is mighty to save all who will come to him in childlike faith. He is coming as Savior. And to you who are troubled, rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels...when He shall be glorified in his saints, and admired in all them that believe.., in that day (2 Thess 1:7, 10). The next time He comes will be to deliver the world from the power of darkness. He will destroy the armies of earth with the breath of His mouth. He will establish His kingdom in righteousness for 1000 years. Finally, He can save to the uttermost. Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He lives forever to make intercession for them (Heb 7:25). He saves to the uttermost of need. Paul, the chief of sinners, was transformed. He wrote: This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief(1 Tim 1:15). He saves to the uttermost of time. The thief on the cross came to Christ at the very last minute. And he said unto Jesus, 'Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom.' And Jesus said unto him, 'Verily I say unto you, today you shall be with me in paradise. ' (Luke 23:42, 43) And, He saves to the utter- most of completion. Jesus is able to save, and when He begins His work, nothing keeps Him from finishing the task. For the which cause I also suffer these things," nevertheless I am not ashamed," for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day (2 Tim 1:12). "Give the winds a mighty voice, Jesus saves, Jesus saves! Let the nations now rejoice, Jesus saves, Jesus saves! Shout salvation full and free, highest hills and deepest caves;this.0ur song of victory, Jesus saves, Jesus saves!" ['Jesus,-Sires', Priscilla J. Owens, verse 4] Jesus is the Savior, the only Savior When you put your trust in Him, He saves you once for all from the penalty of sin. His blood provides redemption, forgiveness, cleansing, peace and liberty. If you have not laid hold on Him for salvation, do so now! www.ibcwestbrook.org For Charlene Lord Americlnn of Marshall 1406 E. Lyon St..
