School District #2898 Regular Board Meeting March 14, 2011 The Westbrook Walnut Grove Board of Education held a regular meeting March 14, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the Westbrook building. Members present were Kronback, Kleven, Knakmuhs, Madson, Maas, Helmer and Jorgenson. Also present were Supt. Woelber, Prin. Richards, Prin. Olson, Eric Larson, Marcia Erickson. Kelly Quade, Shelly Merrick, Steve LeBoutillier, Carter Ross, Lynn Arndt, Candice Duerksen, Derrick Jenniges, Leo Theisen, Adam Kletscher, Carolyn Enstad and Tom Merchant. Kronback called the meeting to order. Motion by Maas second- ed by Kleven to approve the minutes of the February 14, 2011 board meeting. Motion carried. Motion by Madson sec- onded by Jorgenson to approve the amended agen- da. Motion carded. Motion by Maas second- ed by Hehner to approve the claims and accounts. Motion carried. Supt. Woelber noted the legislature is looking at funding for K-12 and stan- dardized evaluations for administration. The senior trip group and parents will meet with the travel agent. The class trip will be from April 1-6. The building grounds committee will meet in April or May. Motion by Maas second- ed by Jorgenson to approve the retirement of Lynn Arndt. Motion carded. The board and administration thanked Lynn for her many years of dedicated service to our district. Motion by Knakmuhs seconded by Madson to approve the 2011-2012 inte- gration revenue of $50,000 of which $35,000 is in our levy. Motion carried. Motion by Helmer sec- onded by Maas to approve the resignation of Shannon Helgeson as cheer coach. Motion carried. Bruce Jorgenson intro- duced the following resolu- tion and moved its adoption to reduce programs and positions: RESOLUTION TO PLACE TEACHERS ON UNREQUESTED LEAVE FROM FULL TIME TO PART TIME (FORM 9) 3 CUSTODIAL STAFF, 2 TRANSPORTATION EMPLOYEES, 1 SUMMER LIBRARY PARA 4 TEACHING STAFF MEMBERS THIS RESOLUTION HAS A TARGET OF $140,000 IN REDUCTIONS Marvin Kleven seconded the motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in favor there of: Jorgenson, Kleven, Knakmuhs, Madson, Maas, Helmer and Kronback. And against the same: none Where upon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. Richards noted an art residency is going on this week. The 7th-8th grade musical went well. The senior high musical will also be going on soon. Leo Theisen discussed a new 9-man football confer- ence which we would be in the west division. We will be in 3AA soft- ball and 3AA baseball.
