"1 had my hip replaced to get back to life, not just for golf." f \\; \\; SENTINEL TRIBUNE Sports Girls' track team places third at Fulda Invitational Wednesday, April 28, 2004 The WWGfRRC girls' track team placed third out of seven teams at the Fulda Invitational Thursday, April 22. The meet, which was held at Slayton, had been rescheduled because of rain on Tuesday. The team per- formed very well despite the fact some of the team mem- bers were absent. The Chargers are con- t inuing to improve as Kelsey Hubert threw a personal best in the discus and shot. Thea Engen jumped a per- sonal best in the triple jump and ran her best 3200 meter run. In the mile, Amber Wallman, Anna Canal and Sarah Hansen all ran a per- sonal best. Krystle Sell ran a personal best in the 200 and 400 meter dash. Emily Eisfeld and Rocky Wahl both ran a personal best in the 800 run. Sandy Zeug ran her best time in the 200 meter dash. Abby Knott ran a per- sonal best in both the 100 and 300 meter hurdles while Britta Engen also ran a per- sonal best in the 300 hur- dles. Abby Knott was the leading point getter for the team with 12 points followed by Kelley Nelson 11.5, Krystle Sell 11, Thea Engen 9.5, Lindsey Anderson 8.25, Amanda Buresh 8.25, Jessica Olsem 7.5, Jonna Maas 3.5, Britta Engen 1.25, Sandy Zeug .5, Malori Paplow .5 and Jenna Zempel .25. She beat the next closest golfer by 5 strokes. The final team score had WWG losing by 4 strokes. Jasmine Madson 53 and Jenny Heinrich shot 53"s. Ashley Hansen 60 rounded out the scoring. The B-squad was not in action last Friday as they had the day off. Windom 191, WWG 213 - The girls' golf team returned to action at .home vs non-conference opponent Windom. WWG had 5 golfers in the 50's for the first time this season. However, it was not enough to overcome a solid Eagle team. Boys' track and field - Fulda Invitational The boys' varsity track team traveled to Slayton for the Fulda Invitational on Thursday, April 22. The team was shorthanded due to other school commitments for that day. The meet Was a rescheduled one from a rain- out the previous Tuesday. Mark Engen had a good day in the high jump, taking second place with a jump of 6 ft. He had 3 very good attempts at 6 ft. 1 in., just missing at that height. Garrett Gransee picked up a couple of fourth place finishes in the 1600 and 800 meter runs. Garrett ran his best times so far in both races. The 4x200 meter relay team placed sixth. Team members were Engen, Gransee, Brian'Theisen, and Brian Stresemann. Theo Johnson- 2nd, Pole Vault, 6'; 4th, 100 Dash, 20.3 Tony Yang - 5th, 100 Dash, 30.24 Forrest Asp - 3rd, 1600 Meter Run, 5:36: 5th. 100 Low Hurdles, 19.21 Jordan Madson tees off on numier Friday afternoon against Southwest Boys' golf teams to Jackson, & Wi Jackson 174, WWG 211 - The WWG boys' golf team continue their toughest stretch of the season. The week began against a power- ful Windom team and ended against a more powerful JCC team. WWG had another good outing having all 6 players in the 40's. JCC, however, had their top 3 players at only 3 over par total. Their 151 is the lowest team total I have seen on our course. Kenny Willers 42 and Derek Eichner 43 led WWG. Ryan Hoffman shot a 49 to lead the B team. The B team was also on the short end. Both squads drop to 3-3 on the season. Windom 158, WWG 162 - The boys opened the week renewing a rivilary with Windom. Windom is always very good at home and on the road. them their best 4 shots short of was a match we can feel good about score.
