Times, dis- tances, and heights continued to improve and the Chargers are gearing up to peak at the end of the season. Seventh grader, Juliana Pederson, turned in her best time of the season in the mile with a breathtaking photo finish with teammate Chanel Madson. This experi- enced, but still very young team has endured some tough innings in the first half of the season. They will play four doublehead- ers in the next couple weeks as the season builds toward the playoffs. SWU 12 RRC/WWG 8 The Falcons outhit the Wildcats 14-6, but strug- gled to throw strikes (ten walks) and make plays defensively (six errors). RRC / WWG took an 8-6 lead into the top of the 5th, but a handful of walks, errors, and some timely hits by the Wildcats brought in five runs and gave SWU the lead for good. Taylor Vollmer was the losing pitcher in relief of Dylan Bunting. Bunting went 4-4 from the plate, while Jacob Comnick and Daniel Maras each added 3 hits. Jeff Decock was 2-3 with 2 RBI and 4 stolen bases. MCC 7 RRC/WWG 2 Trying to get some revenge for a big loss a little over a week before the Falcons played a solid base- ball game at Slayton Thursday afternoon, but lost 7-2. RRC / WWG could only muster four hits, while MCC scored three runs in both the 5th and 6th innings to earn the victory. Chris Halbur hit a big two run homer for MCC in the 5th that gave them the lead for good. Jacob Comnick pitched 5 2/3 innings of solid work, but didn't get the run support he needed. The Falcons defense was the best it had been all sea- son, committing just one error and making a handful of tough defensive plays. JCC 11 RRC/WWG 1 Bryan Bierl took to the mound Friday afternoon in his first varsity start. He kept the Huskies offbalance for three innings but JCC struck gold in the top of the 4th scoring nine runs to take a 9-0 lead. Jeff Decock and Logan Willhite pitched in relief. Bunting was 2-3, while Comnick and Bierl each added singles. This week the Falcons will travel to Edgerton for a doubleheader and then host Adrian in a twinbill Thursday afternoon before finishing the week versus Redwood Valley with a 3:30 start in Lamberton. !!ii:~!z!!i!iii!i% i,liii!iiii;~ii:iz!!i ~,~:~, WWG RRC Falcon Andy Merric looks to against Jackson County Central last week. bunt The WWG Athletic Awards banquet will be held on Friday, May 13 at 6:30 at the Westbrook Community Center.
