SENTINEL TRIBUNE | Sports WWG/RRC places third at Conference Meet Wednesday, May 26, 2004 Page The Chargers traveled to Slayton Thursday, May 20 to compete in the Red Rock Conference Track meet. Personal bests were per- formed by Ashley Anderson in the shot and discus, Megan Mattison in the shot, Amanda Buresh in the pole vault, Sarah DeCock in the long jump and high jump, Caitlyn DeCock in the 1600 run, Rocky Wahl in the 400, Abby Knott in the 300 hur- dles and Kelley Nelson in the 800 run. First place finishers for WWG/RRC were Abby Knott in 300 hurdles, Kelley Nelson in the 800, Jenna Zempel in the 100 hurdles and the 4x400 relay team of Amanda Buresh, Krystle Sell, Kelley Nelson and Abby Knott. Abby Knott led the team in total points with 18.5, fol- lowed by Krystle Sell 13.5, Jessica Olsem 13, Jenna Zempel 13, Amanda Buresh 12.5, Kelley Nelson 8.75, Britta Engen 4, Emily Eisfeld .25 and Jonna Maas .25. This track meet follows a different format with the top individual from each school competing in Class A and the rest of the team competing in Class B. Only team points were kept for Class A to determine a winner of the meet. The first place finishers in Class A from WWG/RRC were Kelley Nelson in the 800 run and Abby Knott in the 300 hurdles. The 4x400 relay team of Amanda Buresh, Lindsey Anderson, Kelley Nelson and Abby Knott also placed first. In the B division placing fLrst were Abby Knott in the 100 hurdles, Thea Engen in the 1600 run, Lindsey Anderson in the 100 meter dash, Dianne Zimmerman in the 200 meter dash and Jonna Maas in the 3200 meter run. WWG/RRC boys track competes at Slayton By Coach LeBoutillier On Thursday', May" 20, the WWG/RRC boys track and field team competed in the Red Rock Conference Track Meet at Slayton. The boys finished seventh out of nine conference teams. One highlight for the Chargers was a new school record in the 800 meter run. Junior Garrett Gransee covered the distance in 2:06.20-to set the record held by former dis- tance runner Whitney Kuehl. Teammate Matt Moldan also broke the old school record but was beat by Gransee. The Charger 4x800 meter relay tem set another school record m that event with a time of 8:34.86, clipping nearly 7 seconds off the old record set just one week ago. Relay members are Matt Moldan, Sam Furth, Alex Johnson, and Garrett Gransee.
