I was in 8th grade this past year taking part in the Magnet Arts Program t Westbrook- Walnut Grove Schools. Starting in January 2004, I took Jazz Dance lessons from Anita Runck in Lamberton, Minnesota at Anita's Conservatory of Dance. This was my fourth year taking dance from her, my third year taking specifically jazz. During the lessons, which were 45 minutes long ever)' Wednesday night, we worked on a routine that would be performed at a recital at the end of the year. We started with stretches, then went straight to work- ing on the routine. Around the end of March, we had all the routine learned and started fine-tuning it. There were eleven girls in my class. ! I Landscapers Just before school got out for the summer Mrs. Carter's landscape class worked on a project at the Grace Lutheran Parsonage. Above her geometry class also pitched in to help, they figured the amount of rock that would be needed for the project. The recital took place on May 22, 2004. So far, I plan on'continu- ing jazz dance in the future. It is one of my hobbies that I really enjoy, and you make a lot of great friends while Middle School quarter honor roll A Honor Roll: Austin Quade, Amber Rails, 5: Levi Ellie Vondracek Rachel Joshua B Honor Roll Abby Grade 5: Brennan Chanel Madson, Beaty, Michael Bottelberghe, Mischke, Kelsey Courtnee Byers, Marissa Amber West Harnack, Chong Her, Jared 6: Samantha Lindaman, Aaron Theisen gaylen Demientieff, Grade 6: Lacey Elzenga, Kallie Busswitz, Caleb Cohrs, Ashley Mason Comnick, Mitchell Haffp n, Comnick, Chase Jarmer, Carlyn Danielowski, Kylie Erickson, Spencer Knott, Lindsey Grams; Fong Her, Raquel Melody Horkey, Jonathan Zachery Otto, LeBoutillier, Evan Madson, Alexis Quade, S.hane Schoborg, Patrick Mark Vue, Schweim, Dalton Taylor, Betty Yang, Gaolee Vang, Venia Vang, Jenew Yang, Katie Xiong, Sherri Zeug Grade 7: Lindsey 7: Amber Byers, Cassandra Caygle, Baumann, Derek Eichner, Andrew Teng Her, Hemp, Steve Her, Amelia Krystalyn Hubin, Thee Johnson, Eric Kassandra Jarmer, Olsem, Jessica Ourada, Jenniges. Cottonwood County Courthouse 1904- 2004 combines written histo- ry, photographs and newspa- per excerpts to tell the story. The Courthouse has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1977 and has a rich history. The author of the book, Kristi Johnson, is a resident of Storden. She began her research in November by reading through 100 years of local newspapers, searching through the museum photo- graph collection, and visiting with people who worked at the Courthouse. The end result of her work is a 39 page book which includes text and over 50 photographs relating to the Courthouse from its initial construction to its many renovations. These books are available at the museum. During the Windom Riverfest celebration, Kristi Johnson will be signing books at the museum Saturday, June 12, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and at the Courthouse from 2 - 3 p.m. The Cottonwood County Historical Society is located at 812 4th Avenue in Windom. Francine and Mrs. Knott working together Francine Jensen loves to sing Hi, my name is Francine ]ensen, I am in the 6th grade at WWG Middle School and during the school year I took singing lessons from Mrs. Knott, who is the music teacher at the WWG School District. I went to her classroom after school for lessons. Singing lessons were every Wednesday, I did- n't make it to every lesson. The lessons were for one half hour and I had to ride the late bus home. The first thing I did when I got to my lessons was to warm up my voice. Then Mrs. Knott played the piano and I sang some songs. The songs are: Side by Side, Music Alone Shall Live, Bring a Torch, Jeannette, Isabel, Greensleeves, and when You Wish Upon a Star. I like singing lessons because I love to sing and I think I have a good voice to sing with.
