St Pauls Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 29, 2010. Interment was at St. Mary's She died on May 25, 2010, at the age of 94. Catholic Cemetery in Tracy. She was born to August and Clara Maas in Johnsonville August died on Sunday, June Township, on January 17, 1916. She attended school in District 6, 2010, at the Avera Regional 113 and high school in Walnut Grove and graduated second in her Medical Center in Marshall after a class of 1934. She attended Teachers Training in Lamberton and courageous battle with Alzheimer's taught country school for seven years, disease. She was married to Norman Gatzlaffon September 23,1941at the Augie Van De Wiele was Johnsonville church. They established their home in Springfield. born on September 30, 1933, Survivors include her husband Norman, Springfield; children, to George and Elisa (Maeyaert) John of North Oaks, Bryan of Mahtomedi, Joanne of Portland, Van De Wiele in Walnut Grove, Oregon; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; sister MN. He was baptized, received Myrtle Schleusner of Austin, brother Ernest (Eldora) Maas of First Communion, and confirmed Walnut Grove, and sisters-in-law Selma Hageman of Springfield at St. Mary's Catho.lic Church in and Doris Grinde of Tracy. In brother Paul Maas; infant granddaughter Heide Gatzlaff. 1953, he entered the United States outside of Walnut Grove, MN, in Dean Walter Weis Turbes in 1957. Services were held for Dean Walter Weis at the Westbrook Cemetery, Westbrook, MN Wednesday, June 9, 2010. Dean Walter Weis was born May 26, 1949 in Slayton, MN to Walter and Betty (Kadus) Weis. He was bap- tized and later confirmed in the Lutheran Church. Dean attended Westbrook Public School and Windom Public Schools where he graduated with the Class of 1967. After graduating from high school, Dean enlisted in the Army from 1967 to 1970 and served in the Vietnam War. In 1982, Dean was united in marriage to Shann Graham. The marriage was blessed with one daughter, Amber. This mar- riage was later dissolved. He worked as a materials manager for many years. Dean lived in Storden, Minnesota until passing away at his home on June 4, 2010 at the age of 61. Dean was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing pool, chuck wagon races, and watching the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. Survivors include his daughter, Amber Weis of Danville, IL; one grandson, Lucas Dogget of Danville, IL; three sisters, Joan (Tom) Klett, Hugo; Barbara Weis of Aurora, CO; and Nancy (Clint) Rose, South St. Paul; one nephew, Michael; and three nieces, Lyndsy, Kelly, and Kayla; and other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Walter and Betty Weis. Douglas Edmund Haycraft Memorial services for Douglas Edmund Haycraft will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2010, at First Baptist Church, 504 Fourth St. S.W., Madelia, MN. He will be interred at Riverside Cemetery. After a long battle with diabetes and cancer, Douglas died April 7, 2010 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Madelia. Douglas was born on April 28, 1944, in Madelia, Minnesota to Beryl and Iola (Anderson) Haycraft moving to Currie and later to Westbrook. He graduated from Westbrook High School in 1962. He served in the United States army until the death of his father in 1966. Because of his father's death, Douglas was designated as the guardian to his younger sister, Deanna. He later moved back to the Madelia area and worked at Tony Down's. He was an ardent archer and attended many archery tournaments. He also took training with H and R Block and served as a tax preparer for many years in Minnesota and Maryland. After returning to Minnesota from Maryland, he worked for St. James Bus Service, Inc. He loved to cross stitch and won first place at the Calvert County Fair in Maryland with his stitching of Mount Vernon. Because of his great love for history, he read historical books continually and loved to tour battlefields and historical sites. He took several tour groups to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. His exper- tise was in the Civil War and he loved to discuss it. Survivors include sisters: Vivian (Ralph) Hennis, Madelia and Deanna (Charley) McDaniel, Stafford, Virginia; brothers: Robert (Cathy), Sequim, Washington, Harold (Hazel), Dale City, Virginia, and Dennis (Sandy), Woodstock, Virginia; 15 nieces and nephews, 19 great-nieces and nephews, and several great- great nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers: Charles (1991) and Richard (2004). Army and returned to farm 1955. He married Marlene Augie retired from farming in 1998. He married Jan Olson on August 11, 2001, and moved to Marshall where they began a life together. He was one of the founders of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Pageant for which he volunteered for 25 years and served as president. He was a member of the Walnut Grove Lions Club. Survivors include his wife of eight years, Jan, his three children Bernie (Butch) Nielsen of Salt Lake City, UT, Marge Lenhart of Albert Lea, Greg (Jaime) Van De Wiele of Draper, UT, his three step-children Rick (Kim) Olson, Kristi (Ed) Olson-Raff, Amy (Paul) Ingebrigtson, all of Marshall, ten grandchildren; brothers and sisters Alice Vandendriessche, Mary Vandeputte, Julie (Jim) Claeys, Richard (Pearl) Van De Wiele, Raymond (Beverly) Van De Wiele, Maurice (Judy) Van De Wiele, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Preceding him in death were his first wife, Marlene- July 6, 1995; parents, George and Elisa; brother Oscar; granddaughter Maleah. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Avera Adult Day Care. Becker, age 85 of Westbrook, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2010 at Lakeridge Care Center in Buffalo. Constance Rhea Roemer Becker was born November 17, 1924 to Ralph Roemer and Lillian Behrends Roemer of Jeffers, MN. She attended schools in Jeffers and Windom. On September 16, 1941 Connie was united in marriage to Leland Charles Grantz. To this union three children were born: Richard Leland, Judith Elaine, and Kathleen Anne Grantz. In 1975 she was united in marriage to Ben Becker. At the age of 42, Connie suffered a severe stroke, which she successfully overcame. Her rehabilitation led her to Mankato State College, graduating with honors in 1975, She went on to teach Special Education in the Ogilvie and Westbrook, Minnesota Public School systems. Upon retirement she enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include daughters Judy (Bill) Eitzen, Boulder, CO and Kathy Donnelly, Otsego; daughter-in-law Marilyn Grantz Muckenhirn, Maple Lake; grandchildren Kevin Grantz of Monticello, Cindy Grantz of Clearlake, Tyson (Marne) Donnelly of Rogers, Leah Constance Donnelly of Minneapolis, and Jani Kathleen Grantz of St. Paul; six great grandchildren; brothers Jerry (Marilyn) Roemer of Deming, New Mexico and Tom (Nancy) Roemer of Jacksonville, Florida; and many nieces, neph- ews and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands Leland Grantz and Ben Becker; son Richard; great granddaughter Alyssa; sisters Shirley Gravley, Verna Nerem, Janice Raverty Mason; brothers Lyle Roemer, Lloyd Roemer, Gordon Roemer, and Gilford Roemer.
