SENTINEL TRIBUNE Wednesday, June 16, 2010 Page 8 By Digger Phelps We've entered in the sum- mer season at Rolling Hills and the activities are hap- pening at a hectic pace. The recent weekend, although cool and rainy, was again a huge success as the "Slipper Inn" and the "Loose Moose" hosted their annual "2-Bar" Tournament. Eighty-Eight golfers competed through some rather less than desirable weather on Saturday morn- ing, but managed to finish all thirty-six holes by Sunday evening. Congratulations to Derek Eichner for winning the Championship in a play- off. Other flight winners were as follows: Presidents Flight-- Austin Quade; 1st Flight - Lcigh Dorman; 2nd Flight - Roger Haar; 3rd Flight Tory Herding; 4th Flight - Bill Meyer; 5th Flight - Brandon Carter; 6th Flight - Russ Fay; 7th Flight - Mike Schoper; 8th Flight - Harv Kruger. Both men's and ladies, leagues continue with both fast approaching the end of the first half. Men's league standings as of June 9 Early League 1 - Cohrs/ Faltinson 80-1/2; R. and D. Spots are limited in this event, and it will probably be limited to those already registered. The ladies will be hosting an "over 50" event on June 21. In addition, the ladies will begin hosting a 2 - lady best ball fun time beginning at 6:30 on Tuesday evenings. Participants do not need to be members or league par- ticipants, and there will be a break on green fees for this event. Plans are to hold this event on any Tuesday when there is not a tourna- ment scheduled. As you can tell, there are any number of activities going on at Rolling Hills. Come on out and enjoy the company of friends. We'll see you on the course!! Westbrook City Special Meeting May 8, 2010 The Westbrook City Council met on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 8:30 a.m. in the City Council Room. Members present: Mayor: Rocky Kolar. Council mem- bers: John Madson, Dennis Phelps, Jan Johnson and Craig Jans Mayor Rocky Kolar pre- sided the meeting. Rocky presented the fin- ished contract to the coun- cil from RCC/ProSource Technologies. Rocky noted that the addendum was inserted as requested and there was a hand written statement in paragraph #30 that stated, "; except for what is required by pub- lic law for municipalities. Rocky stated that the inser- tion of this sentence is a must due to the fact that we are a municipality and that our records are public knowledge, Motion by Madson and seconded by Jans to approve the contract. The contract was signed by Mayor Rocky Kolar and notarized at the meeting. Motion carried. Mayor Rocky Kolar stat- ed that Perry Zieske would like to be involved in the Street Project. His cost would be 4%, which would be roughly $60,000 if the street cost was to remain the same as quoted. Ro.cky will continue negotiating with Perry to get his cost down. Information on a new pumper truck was brought to the council. The pump- er truck broke down at a recent fire and needs repairs of $9,000. The Fire Department would like to repair the pumper truck and use that truck as the back up pumper and pur- chase a newer truck to use as the main pumper. The Fire Department will meet and gather up some more information to present to the council at a later date. The council discussed that Mary and Martha's Pantry needs to appoint a board soon. Rocky will dis- cuss this with Harry and set a date in which the council will appoint the board. Motion by Phelps and seconded by Johnson to adjourn the meeting. All voted in favor. Motion car- ried. Rocky Kolar, Mayor Katie Steen, City Clerk Westbrook City Special Meeting May 14, 2010 The Westbrook City Council met on Friday, May 14, 2010 at 8:30 a.m. in the City Council Room. Members present: Mayor: Rocky Kolar. Council mem- bers: John Madson, Dennis Phelps, Jan Johnson and Craig Jans Mayor Rocky Kolar pre- sided the meeting. Mayor Rocky Kolar presented to the council a statement received from Jim Schmidt asking the council to appoint him as Utility Commissioner to fill in Orlen Gram's place. Motion by Madson and seconded by Johnson to approve the appointment. All voted in favor. Motion carried. Motion by Phelps and seconded by Johnson to approve the AFG Grant Resolution. All voted in favor. Motion carried. Mayor Rocky Kolar pre- sented the council with hand out materials regarding the street project. Rocky want- ed to look at the proposed project before the Engineer came today. Motion by Madson and seconded by Jans to adjourn the meeting. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
