Officiating clergy was Pastor Arthur Miller, organist was Marlene Smith and Quartet were Richard Duroe, Ken Prins, Hilda Brand, Marlene Eidem. Casket bear- ers were Mike Nemitz, Mark Nemitz, Ron Van Gerpen, Ed Woizeschke, Jerry Fisk, Lynn Arndt. Interment was held at the Jeffers Cemetery, Jeffers, MN. Norma Glee Saathoff was born August 13, 1917 in Comfrey, MN to the late Theodore and Lulu (Joenks) Fisk. Norma was baptized and later confirmed at the Comfrey Congregational Church. She received her educa- tion in the Comfrey Schools; graduating in the Class of 1935. On June 12, 1935, Norma was united in marriage to John Saathoff at the parsonage of the Comfrey Congregational Church. After their marriage, Norma and John continued to farm on the home place, east of Jeffers, until moving to the west side of Jeffers to farm. They continued to farm there until 1954 when they bought the John Deer dealership that was named "Saathoff Implement." At that time, Norma and John moved into Jeffers. While they owned the John Deere Implement Co., Norma did book work for eight years. After incorporating, Norma and John stayed on until 1972 when they bought the Jeffers Shoe Store where they were owner/operators until 1998 and Norma continued as the bookkeeper there. John passed away on December 26, 2001. After his death, Norma continued to live in Jeffers until suffering a stroke in 2001. Since then she had been in the Sogge Good Samaritan Center where she died Saturday, June 12, 2004 at the age of 86 years. Norma was a Iongtime member of the Jeffers United Methodist Church in Jeffers and the Women's Society for many years. As an officer in the Southwest District, Norma attended WSCS nationals. When the new church was built, she worked on the kitchen committee. Norma had many interests and hobbies which included doing family history research on her Scott Clan. Norma was able to trace back to Daniel Webster and Sir Walter Scott. In 1980, She went to Scotland were she was able to find the birth registration of her ancestor, Caroline Elliot Scott, her Great grandmother who was born in Jedburg Scotland. She also enjoyed gardening, especially flowers; antiques; and reading. Survivors include her three daughters, Janice Saathoff of St. Paul; Nancy Saathoff of Mahtomedi; Carol Saathoff of Windom; one sister, Evalyn Nemitz of Windom; and other family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, John Saathoff; four brothers; and six sisters. Florence Mary Huqhes Funeral services were held for Floren'e Mary Hughes Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Benson, MN with Father Steven Verhelst officiating. Burial was in St. Malachy Catholic Cemetery, Clontarf, MN. She died Saturday evening, June 12th, 2004, at her resi- dence at Park View Manor in Benson at the age of 87. metpay fine and sc ....... She grew up and attended rade school in Clontarf, and graduated from Benson High chool. On November 16,1936, Florence was united in marriage to Chauncey E. Hughes at St. Malachy's Catholic Church by Father Richard King. The family lived in Clontarf, Benson, and Westbrook, and Florence was employed by JC Penney's and Wigfield's in Benson, and worked as a bookkeeper for Dr. Henry Schmidt Memorial Hospital and A & W Electric in Westbrook, MN. She was a member of the Cancer Society and the Lake Hazel Homemakers. Among the things she enjoyed were music, playing piano and organ, and reading. Survivors include her sons: William Hughes of Aberdeen, SD, Donald (Cilia) Hughes of Lake Benton, MN, and Jeff (Terri) Hughes of Westbrook, MN; one daughter, Loretta Jones of Benson, MN; fourteen grandchildren, nineteen reat grandchildren; one sister, Eleanor (Harry) Babler of St. auL MN; and other relatives. Preceding her in death were her husband, Chauncey in f988; a daughter, Geraldine in 1984; sisters: Gertrude Bouta, .Rose Chevalier, Marg Klucas; and one brother, Raymond. Officiating clergy was Pastor Barbara Jewell, organist was Marlene Smith and vocalist was Elizabeth Johnson. Honorary casket bearers were Russ Hanish, Scott Caswell Hilda Brand, Betty Krahn, Esther Eichstadt, Thelma Gehrls, Larry Goeman, Judy Westerman, Elton Geeman. Casket bearers were John Brand, Floyd Westerman Elton Wagner, Arlen Arndt, Doug Soleta, Larry Interment was held in the Memory Gardens, Edith died on Friday evening, June 11th, at the Good Samaritan Home where she had been living just days at the age of 84 years. [Edith Agnes Bemadine Arndt was born in Township, Cottonwood County, MN on October 5, the late Fred and Louise (Dally) Soleta. She was and confirmed at a young age in Windom. Her was begun in rural schools of Great Bend Township' secondary education completed at Windom Hi( Edith received Normal training at Mankato. District 25 rural school in Great Bend Township Heron Lake prior to her marriage. On June 21, 1942, Edith was united in D. (Bud) Amdt at Lutheran Church of Our From the time of their marriage, they farmed in and Great Bend Townships. In 1957, they moved Township and have lived there until the present. Mr. died in 1995. Edith is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in and served as a member of the Ladies Aid and had l participant in the activities of the Senior Citizens of, Throughout her life, Edith worked hard, was a and loved to garden. She especially enjoyed her cats and was most fond of her canine companion many years. Before her stroke, she was an avid newspapers and paper-back books. To all who Edith was a sweet and compassionate person. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Jeffers; 3 sisters and a brother: Pansy Mankato; Lester and Rosie Soleta of Windom; Harry Fast of Mankato; and Bemetta Maras of sisters-in-law: Hazel and Pat Soleta, both of Windorn. Preceding her in death were her husband, Amdt and son Darryl "Dean" Arndt; 3 brothers and Clarence, Vernon, and Lennie Soleta and Veronica M. Vandermoon Funeral services were held for Veronica M. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Windorn, Tuesday, June 22, 2004, Francis Galles officiating. Colleen Ortmann and vocalist Foley. Veronica Margaret was born on August 14, 1909 in MN, to the late Nicholas (Jenniges) Backes. She was an early age and later confirmed in Jeffers, MN. received her education in the Jeffers Public Schools, ;sting in the Glass of 1928, In 197, Veron.a was united in marriage Vandermoon at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic tory in Windom. For most of her life, Veronica was a wife. For approximately 15 years, she was a foster mother at the home for Creative Living =n enjoyed this very much and treated every care of as if they were her own. After her ter grandparent, Veronica continued to live in her own until December 31, 1997, when she Sogge Good Samaritan Center in Windom. She there until she died Saturday, June 19, 2004 at the, 94. Veronica was a member of the St. Francis Church in Windom where she was a Guild also was an American Legion Auxiliary member. Survivors include many nieces, nephews, and nephews, greatgreat nieces and nephews friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; Vandermoon; brothers and sisters: Chris, John Backes, Margaret Vandermoon, Mary Quade and Fester.
