There is a new look to the interior and to the displays at the Heritage House Museum in Westbrook. After a spring of vigorous work by several members we are proud to open for the 2013 Season during the City Fun Days Celebration. This is a free Museum devoted mainly to Westbrook's past and to the citizenry of this vibrant little town. If you are new to the area come get your feet wet in local history and color. If you are an old-timer, or even a sort-of-old-timer, you will hark back to earlier years with a smile; and to pic- tures of folks still treasured in memory. Stop in whenever the OPEN sign is up during this weekend and on all the Sunday afternoons (from 2-4) during the summer. An added attraction to the Fun Days activities at the museum is a chance to view books by two recently pub- lished local authors from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.. A Place of Interest by Carolyn Van Loh and Hands Upon the Rock by Paula Paplow will be on dis- play at the museum and near the shelter house in the park. Van Loh's book, based on Betty Van Loh's dia- ries, relates a history of the Westbrook area, particular- ly from 1950 to the present. Paplow's book uses photo- graphs and story to tell Indian history and legend through pictures carved in stone at the Jeffers Petroglyphs. Carolyn Van Loh and Joan Bakker, who wrote the for- ward for Paplow's book, will be ,on hand to chat about the books~ ~' Special renovation thanks to the imaginative Andrea Poon and her indefatiga- ble trio of workers: Hunter, Brandon and Alex; to Dave and Carolyn Van Lob, Gene Larson, Dennis Anderson, Jim Patterson, Daryl Hrdlicka and the Bakkers for all their efforts.
