SENTINEL TRIBUNE ()N RECORD Wednesday, July 3, 2013 Page 2 OBITUARIES Kathryn Malo Cole Memorial services for Kathryn Cole were held at Christ Lutheran Church Friday, July 5, 2013. Interment was at Westbrook Cemetery Westbrook, MN. To send condolences visit totzkefu- neralhome.com. Kathryn Cole was born on October 22, 1920 in Des Moines Township, Murray County, Minnesota to Raymond and Malo (Norton) Norton. She grew up on a farm near Dundee, MN. Kathryn graduated from Westbrook High School in 1939. October 7, 1939 she and Loren Cole were married in Sioux Falls, SD. Following their marriage they made their home in several communities in southwest Minnesota and eastern South Dakota moving to Moorhead, MN in 1957 and Kathryn worked at Moorbead State College. In 1958 Kathryn graduated from Interstate Business College, Fargo, ND. In 1962 they moved to Clear Lake, IA where Kathryn worked at a feed company. In 1966 they moved to Des Moines, IA where Kathryn worked at Midland Financial. Kathryn retired in 1982. In 1983 they moved to Slayton, MN. In 2010 she became a resident of the Westbrook Good Samaritan Center in Westhrook where she died April 26, 2013 at the age of 92. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Slayton. Kathryn was a member of the Women Missionary Society, Eastern Star, United Commercial Travelers Auxiliary and the Elk Lodge Auxiliary. Kathryn enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing bridge, walking and doing ceramics. Survivors include her sons, Curtiss (Nancy) Cole, Borrego Springs, CA, Mud (Colleen) Cole, Slayton, MN; eight grandchil- dren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; many step grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchil- dren; brother, Raymond (Waneta) Norton, Mission Viejo, CA; sisters, Esther "Gay" (Ray) Metz and Iris (Gerald "Jerry") Klein both of Slayton, MN; sister-in-law, Marilyn Norton, Pismo Beach, CA. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Loren, November 12, 1992; son, Jackie Cole; brothers and sisters, Glade Norton, Gwen Kuehl, Marquerite Christensen, Max "Buck" Norton and LaNell Norton. Fire chief David Baumhoefner an electri- cal short started the fire. Brian Pelzel, manager of Country Pride commented the damage was purely cosmetic and easily repairable. Roots made it through the local auditions and earned his way into the top 100. From there, he traveled to Los Angeles to compete for a spot in the top 19.
