Livestock Mortality Composting Workshop set for Morris A Livestock Mortality Composting Workshop will be July 28 at the U of M West Central Research and Outreach Center in Morris. The workshop begins at noon with lunch and regis- tration, and ends at 4 p.m. Participants will tour the research center's swine mortality compost facility. The Pork Checkoff, MN Pork Board and the U of M are workshop hosts. There is no cost to attend the workshop but pre-registration is strongly encouraged to assure avail- ability of materials, lunch, beverages and seating. Homer E. Gordon, age 88, of Redwood Falls, died at his home on Saturday, July 10, 2004. Homer Eldon Gordon was born on October 21, 1915 in Madelia, MN, the son of Sever B. and Tillie Amanda (Rindy) Gordon. He was baptized in Madelia and later moved with his family to a farm near Westbrook, MN in 1917 and was confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church Westbrook. Homer attended country school north of Westbrook and Westbrook High School. He= in the Army in the South Pacific during World July 1941 until October 1945. Homer was united in marriage to Leona December 8, 1947 at the Sharon Lutheran Lamberton, MN. They farmed together moving to a farm near Redwood Falls in 1952. members at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church where served on the church council, as deacon and years. Homer worked for Gambles for six Montgomery Ward for nine years, and until retiring in 1978. He drove school bus for Service for 20 years, from 1975 until 1995. Homer lots of time with his granddaughter, daughter nieces, nephews and friends. He also enjoyed dancing and helping others. Survivors include his wife Leona of Redwood daughter Linda Aeikens and husband, Kendall and! daughter Kjerstin of Ankeny, IA; a sister-in-law Gordon, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding him in death were his parents; two Harold and wife Della, and Edward; three sisters, Helen and her husband Walter Gerber and Eleanor e husband Basil Heath.
