SENTINEL TRIBUNE Wednesday, August 7, 2013 Page 3 *Schneider --- From page I in Dave Schneider in his spacious shop with a host of high tech wood working machines. Schneider has been using a computer aided design program to do three dimen- sional 3D renderings of some of his projects. But he says he still does hand drawings of some of his projects. He said, "one of the reasons we wanted to move here is that we both grew up around here, and when we start a family we want to raise them with the same surroundings we grew up with." Schneider has two full time employees Garett Amundson, and Mark Baker. He also has a couple of art time people that come in when we need them. If things keep going as well as they have been Schneider felt he prob- ably would have to hire another full time person. Schneider really enjoys doing the hands on of cabinetry, but he realizes as the business grows he will not get to build as much as he would like, because of management work. "We like to keep up with the trends in what people are looking for in new cabinets and other custom things they build," he said. Schneider does a wide range of wood work and construction beside cabinetry. He also builds custom furniture, bars, fireplace mantles and surrounds, arches and columns, and decks. "I really like to see projects come together in the end. I enjoy seeing a satisfied customer when they get the product," he said. Schneider admits though being his own boss is great, but it also creates a lot of demand on his time planning projects and lin- ing up what is needed to complete a job. "I really like building specialty items -- I don't like doing assembly line work, but to be efficient you need to have some of that in order to get things done in a timely matter," Schneider said. Schneider talked about one of the last proj- ects he and his crew completed. The home was 7,000 square feet three stories, with kitchen, fireplace, mud room lockers, five bedrooms, six baths, home theater, and base- ment bar. But they still appreciate doing small jobs as well, and they can do jobs locally as well. Schneider is planning an open house late in August or early September. Last week a Lake Shetek landmark was razed when the former Breezy Point Bar was knocked down. It was a popular watering hole for many years, well known in the area. Although it is now gone it has been replaced by a newer venue to the west built in an old barn. County Fair --- From page I Continue your county fair walk by visit- ing the various livestock barns and you'll get a genuine sense of accomplishment from dozens of 4-H members as they prepare their animals for the next show. The care, feeding and grooming that goes into every livestock project animal reinforces the commitment 4-H families share. And it's not just about the animals. The livestock industry knowledge that each exhibitor gains' along the way is reflected in numerous showmanship awards. While competition is prevalent at the coun- ty fair, it's so much more. It's sharing, it's informing, and it's educating the public on what 4-H members are learning and doing. Visit the 4-H Building and all the bams dur- ing this year's Murray County Fair and see for yourself what 4-H members have learned and the difference they are making in our com- munities.
