SENTINEL TRIBUNE Area Focus Wednesday, August 28, 2013 Page 10 WWG lost season opener to TMB Friday By Cathy Baumann Coach The WWG Charger volleyball team traveled to Tracy for their season opener against the TMB Panthers. Poor passing seemed to be the root of the Chargers problems against an aggressive Panther team. Although there were some good plays throughout the night, the Chargers could not find consistency on their side of the court. The Chargers fell to the Panthers in three sets with scores of 16-25, 11-25, and 17-25. Some highlights for the Chargers came in the form of offense plays with 14 kills by outside hitter, Dayna Comnick. She was assisted by setter, Abby Herding, with 22 set assists on the night. There was consistency displayed by Chargers at the service line from Elizabeth Woelber, Comnick, Cassidy Mischke, and Alexa Byers all serving 100% on the night. Woelber, Comnick, and Mischke each earned one service ace a piece as well. Defensively, mid- dle blocker, Morgan Dennistoun made her debut with a solid three and half blocks within the first two sets. Right side, Madison Takle, showed her ability to read opposing hitters, earning herself two and half blocks, along with middle blocker Jordaan Joel earning two blocks on the night. Although pass- ing was not the forte of the night, Comnick, Woelber, and Mady Johnson each made some good scram- bles in the back row with five digs each. I Notice -- Due to excessive heat the Charger football game against CHECTR willl be played at 8:00 p.m. instead of the usual time of 7:00 p.m. Morgan Denistoun hits the ball in action against Tracy Milroy Balaton last Friday night.
