For more information, contact Sara Wahl at 507-859-2600 or cvarie- Since 1997, many older adults in Minnesota have relied on the Senior LinkAge Line, a statewide service of the Minnesota Board on Aging and Area Agencies on Aging, as their first call for assistance when experiencing questions or issues on a variety of sub- jects. Most widely known for long-term care, Medicare expertise and helping older adults age well in the com- munity, the Senior LinkAge Line is also often used for helping Minnesota seniors and their caregivers to find answers to other questions that may involve state agen- cies, such as how to handle a driver's license that has been revoked or determin- ing if a professional holds a current license. Because of the extensive knowledge of the Senior LinkAge Line specialists, as well as the increasing popularity of the line, when Lt. Governor Yvonne Prettner Solon had a vision for a One Stop Shop for Minnesota Seniors, it made sense to expand the existing Senior LinkAge Line. The newly expanded Senior LinkAge Line: A One Stop Shop for Minnesota Seniors can now quickly assist Minnesotans with a variety of subjects and issues that require the expertise of other state agencies. With one call, a specialist can connect the caller to appropriate state agency staff that can direct- ly assist the caller without requiring a second, or even third, call to be made. For example, if a senior has questions regarding their property tax, a Senior LinkAge Line One Stop Shop specialist can chat with a staff from the Minnesota Department of Revenue to find an answer for the caller. This virtual i network is made possible By Pastor Rob Adams The Forerunner ... Where the forerunner is entered for us, even Jesus, made a high priest forever after the order of Melchisedec (Hebrews 6:20) A forerunner is one who goes in advance to observe, or act as a scout, especially in military matters. Such were the twelve spies sent to spy out the land of Canaan (Num 13). It also speaks of one who is sent before a king to see that the way is prepared. This was the duty of John Baptist as he is often referred to as the forerunner of Christ. (Is 40:3-5; Matt 11:10) Our text is the only place in the Bible where the word fore- runner is used. We do find the same Hebrew word used in Isaiah 28:4, but is translated hasty fruit, or earlyfig. In our text it is Jesus of Whom this word forerunner is used. In what ways does the Lord Jesus satisfy the definition of a Forerunner? Let me suggest three today as they are presented in God's precious Word. First, He went beyond the veil of the temple. He accom- plished this through the Cross. The High Priest entered beyond the veil yearly into the Holy of Holies, but no one else could follow. He went in as the representative of the people on the Day of Atonement (Lev 16:1-19). But Jesus did something new. He entered beyond the veil as our representative and as our pioneer. He entered in once, and we can follow Him to the throne of God (Heb 9:24-26)! We can have free and continued access to the God's throne, because Jesus is there serving as our Great High Priest (Heb 10:19, 20; 4:14-16). We go in the first time to find mercy (salvation). We go in thereafter daily to fred help in time of need. Second, Jesus is our Forerunner because He arose from the dead (Rev 1:5; Col 1:18). Though others arose before Him (such as Lazarus), they all died again. He is the first to rise eternally, never again to die! And this will be true for the believer as well. What a blessed hope! Third, He has gone ahead to prepare a place for us (John 14:1-4). Joseph was sent ahead to Egypt to prepare a place for Jacob and the family. This also resembles two of the disciples who had gone ahead to prepare for the Last Supper. Likewise Jesus is preparing a place for us. We are told that eye has not seen and ear has not heard, neither has entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love Him (2 Cor 2:9). Since Jesus has gone to heaven, the believers will soon follow! Of course, the timing is in His hands. It may be by death, or Jesus may soon come for each of us who know Him. The disciples were afraid because Jesus was leaving them. He could doubtless see the fear on their faces. He pointed upwards to the home He was preparing for them. The Hebrews to whom our text was written were in danger of doubting the Word in times of persecution. The writer pointed to Jesus, the Anchor, and the Forerunner of our faith. Let us keep our eyes on Jesus, who has gone ahead of us to prepare a place for us. It could be today! inn through the use of Revation, LinkAge Line: A One a specialized chat and call Stop Shop for Minnesota system. The Senior Seniors at 1-800-333-2433.
