Luke Schneider was crowned king and Erica Kleven was crowned queen. To show their appreciation for community support, the North Hero All Stars and Springdale Climbers 4-H Clubs will serve coffee and bars on October 8 from 2:30 - 4:00 p.m. at the Walnut Grove Community Center. THIRTY YEARS AGO October 6, 1983 Deb Kuehl's pre-school class was the hit of the home- coming parade last Friday afternoon. The tykes trooped down the parade route with- out hesitation. It is reported the children had a lot more energy after the parade than their mom's who helped dur- ing the parade. Bikers were enthusiastic as they reached the almost half- way mark at Walnut Grove during last Sunday's mara- thon for non-public educa- tion. The group began their trek in Tracy, traveled to Walnut Grove City park and back to Tracy to raise funds for St. Mary's Catholic School in Tracy, and for the religious education program at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Walnut Grove. FORTY FIVE YEARS AGO October 10, 1968 Roger Boerboom has pur- chased the Addison Standard Service Station here and he took possession last Saturday. Continued wet weather has caused a serious stoppage of harvest. Practically no field work has been done since the heavy rain of September 21. Additional rain Tuesday and Wednesday, amounting to 1.6 inches in town has brought a further delay. In Tuesday's rain, some farmers east of town reported 3 inches of rainfall. The initial certification course, using the ServSafeh curriculum, will be offered on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at the SW/WC Service Cooperatives in Marshall from 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Participants must attend the entire session to be eligible to take the certifica- tion exam, which begins at 4:30 p.m. This seven-hour course includes information about safe food preparation, handling, sanitation and pre- vention of foodborne illness- es. Registration is required by October 16.
