The win gave the Chargers a 6- 0 season record and first place in the conference going into next weeks final game, and assures them of a tie for the conference. If they can beat Tracy-Milroy next Wednesday at Westbrook they will win the conference outright. ']'be Chargers finally got out of Class C and into Class B in the AP standings in the state. This last week found them rated 14th of all Class B schools in Minnesota. A win against T-M would probably move them up in the ratings. They are already assured of a place in the Minnesota State Playoffs which run Oct. 23-27-Nov. 2. This year they say the Semi-final games and the final games will be played at the Metrodome. JV football Chargers vs Slayton Wildcats Monday, October 8, the Chargers defeated a fine Slay,on Team, there, by the score of 14 to 13 This JV game was very similar to the varsity game we played a couple of weeks ago at Slayton. We scored early and dominated the first half (we led 14 - 0) but the second half was a different story. Slayton scored on an intercepted pass and a broken play. They went for the win but the "Charger" defense held. We were very lucky to win this game. Slayton played tough, very tough, that second half. Scoring for the Chargers was Travis Nelson on a 30 yard TD from Josh Swenhaugen. PAT was blocked The 2rid quarter found Doug Westerman in the endzone on a 10 yard pass from Swenhaugen. Eric Kronback ran the ball in for the 2 point PAT. Defensively the Chargers intercepted the Wildcats twice; Chris Dallenbach and Doug Westerman. Eric Olson had a QB sack; Craig Curry and Chris led the team in tackles with6 each followed by Eric Kronback and Philip Roby with 5. The JV and 9th record stands at 5-0.
