SENTINEL TRIBUNE I SPORTS Wednesday, November 6, 2013 Page 10 Holiday Flair --- From page 1 i , i . . i ....j ................ Ladies visited while having lunch at the Holiday Flair last Saturday at the Westbrook Community Center Generally speaking most of the crops are in around the immediate area and much of the ground is being plowed down. Predicted snow will certainly dampen the progreSs of those who still have crop left in the field. The good news is that it is not expected to stay around very long. LuAnn Cooley visited with Holiday Flair visi- tors Saturday morning at Westbrook. Whiz Walker Sez... Congratulations Nate! Nate Knakmuhs was our grand prize winner with a total of 134 points overall. He out-distanced his nearest competitor Jacob Jenniges by four points to bring home the prize. Not only that, Nate was our winner in 2011. This weeks weekly winner was Greg Hansen with 18 right. Well it was a great week for Minnesota Sports, but not a clean sweep. The Gophers went to Indiana as 10 point underdogs, but I felt the way they have been play- ing they had a good chance, and they did win albeit by a narrow margin. Go Gophers! Both the Wild and the Wolves also won. Then again there is the Vikings -- they played well for 58 minutes -- unfortunately they forgot that the game lasts 60 minutes! Thanks for playing, and thanks to our sponsors that make this possible. See you next year! whiz... MN State Patrol announces Special -nforcement Projects Fatal and injury crashes have been increasing and the trajectory is continu- ing. In an effort to reverse the trend, the Minnesota State Patrol is implement- ing enhanced enforcement plans in each of 11 State Patrol Districts - statewide - now through December. These initiatives will be directed by the District's crash data and facts. In southwest Minnesota, two-thirds of recent fatali- ties had distracted driv- ing as the major factor. Statewide statistics show these serious crashes are predominately on rural highways and/or improved county two lane road- ways. As well, an alarming number of the occupants involved were unbelted. The District Traffic Safety Initiative calls for state troopers to organize and execute saturations, on secondary two lane high- ways and roadways, these saturations will utilize unmarked squads as well as marked. Enforcement will focus on distracted driving, seatbelt use, speed and impaired driving.
