SENTINEL TRIBUNE VETERANS Wednesday, November 9, 2011 Page 10 We Salute (,ur Veterans Westbrook Walnut Grove Veterans Day programs A Veteran's Day program will be held at the Westbrook Walnut Grove High School Gymnasium Thursday at 10:00 a.m. The WWG Choir and Band will perform, and the Westbrook VFW and American Legion Color Guard will present the colors. Speaker tbr the event will be Dennis "Digger" Phelps. On Friday there will be a Veterans Day Program at the Westbrook Walnut Grove Elementary school. The program will be in the elementary gym at 2:00 p.m. The fourth grade choir, the 5th and 6th grade choir and the 6th grade band will poer- form. Colors will be presented by the Walnut Grove American Legion. The speaker will be Beth Kleven. He is a native of Jackson, MN and has more than thirty year of service in the Minnesota and Iowa Army National Guard. In 2009, Brigadier General Bargfrede was selected to command the 734th Agri-Business Development for their deployment to Kunar, Afghanistan and was deployed there from July 2010 to June 2011. His decorations include the Bronze Star medal, Army Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign medal, the NATO Afghanistan Service medal, the Armed Forces Reserve medal with 30 year device, the Combat Action Badge and the Department of the Army Staff Badge. He currently resides in Ankeny, Iowa with his wife Diane where he works for Iowa Emergency Management in the Recovery Bureau as the Operations Chief.
