SENTINEL TRIBUNE On Record Wednesday, December 9, 2009 Page 2 OBITUARIES Donna May Ware A Celebration of Life was held Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at at LaCanne Family Funeral Home, Windom, MN for Donna May Ware, Pastor Ernest Swenson officiaed. Interment in Westbrook Cemetey, Westbrook. Casket bearers were Ryan Ware, Jill Ressen, Sebastian Ressen, Jennifer Ware, Lindsay Zumbrunnen. Donna passed away on Monday morning, November 30, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Society in Westbrook at the age of 73. Donna May Ware was born on May 27, 1936 to Harold L. and Elsie (Kaderabak) Ware near Windom and received her education in Windom, graduating in 1954. Donna moved to Minneapolis where she was employed by Northwest Bank and later VanDusen Aircraft. She moved back to Westbrook in 1998 and spent her retire- ment years in Westbrook. Survivors include her brother Stun (Susan) Ware, of Westbrook; two sisters, Betty Erickson, Edina and Shirley Ware, Windom; one nephew, Ryan Ware and family, Minneapolis; two nieces, Jill Ressen and family, Elk River and Lindsay Zumbrunnen, Minneapolis. Preceding her in death were her parents, Harold L. and Elsie Ware and her nephew, Justin Ware. Kevin Scott Wiebe Funeral services were held for Kevin Scott Wiebe December 4, 2009 at the Jeffers Baptist Church, Jeffers, MN. Officiating were: Pastor Marvin Pederson, Pastor John Coons, Pastor Brad Bonnett. Interment was held at the Jeffers Cemetery. Kevin, 48, died at his home on Monday morning, November 30, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. Kevin Scott Wiebe was born on July 15, 1961 in Windom, MN to Leo and Georgia (Wilson) Wiebe. Kevin accepted Christ as Savior at the age of 12, after his brother Gary died. He was bap- tized in 1973 in Jeffers, MN. He attended school at Storden- Jeffers Public School and gradu- ated with the Class of 1979. On June 11, 1982, Kevin was united in marriage to Rebecca Lynn Coons. This marriage was blessed with two sons, Scott and Adam. Kevin worked as a mechanic on com- bines at Jeffers Implement for 22 years. He continued work- in] there until he wasn't able to because of his health. ,evin was a member of the Jeffers Baptist Church where he ran the sound system since 1999, mowed the church lawn for 20+ years, snow removal for 20+ years, and was an usher for 30+ years. He enjoyed working on farm machinery and loved talking about farming. Kevin loved being a Grandpa and spending time with his granddaughter, Harper. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca; sons, Scott (Leah) Wiebe, Lynchburg, VA and Adam Wiebe of Ivanhoe; one granddaughter, Harper Wiebe; father, Leo Wiebe, Bingham Lake; brother, Keith (Diane) Wiebe, Burnsville; and many other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his mother, Georgia; brother, Gary Wiebe; sister, Diane Wrase. Darroll P. "Blackie" Scheiber Darroll "Blackie" Scheiber, 85, died on Nov. 25, 2009 in his home after a lengthy illness. He was born July 23, 1924 in Lake Benton, MN to Paul and Edith Scheiber. Soon after his birth, the family moved to Walnut Grove, MN where he attended school graduating from high school in 1942. On October 10, 1943 he married class- mate Esther Weaver. They had three sons and two daugh- ters. They moved to Salinas in 1959 and then to Prunedale in 1964. He was active in his church, singing in the choir and a member of SIRS until his illness. He retired from Wells Fargo Bank in 1986. Blackie donated his body to science and the San Francisco University of California School of Medicine. Memorial Services were held at First United Methodist Church in Salinas on December 3, 2009. Donations can be made to the Visiting Nurses Association and to the Parkinson's Foundation. Survivors include his wife, Esther; sisters Delphia Rue of Concord, CA and Evelyn Kingwell of Martinez, CA; sons Ray of Prunedale, Jerry (Frances) of Prunedale; daughters Mrs. Karen Sohler (Rick) Hayden, Id., Mrs. Mary Shannon (Doug) of Athol, ID; 4 grandchildren: Liz Scheiber, Michael Scheiber, Briana Davis and Olivia Bird; great-grandchildren: Hannah and Jada Scheiber; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; brother Odean Scheiber; son Dennis Scheiber; twin great-grandsons Anthony and Robert Scheiber. Pastor Terry Frovik officiat- ed. Military honors by members of the Westbrook VFW Post and the Odegaard-Quade American Legion Post 401 in Jeffers. Arthur "Chip" Lee Giese was born on August 16, 1946, to Arthur "Buck" Joy and Ella Ida Martha (Krahn) Giese. Chip received his education in the Jeffers Public Schools and grad- uated in the Class of 1964. Chip =: ' then enlisted in the United States Navy and served in Vietnam from 1965-1969 He was an aviation electrician as a crew member of the U.S.S. Pine Island and U.S.S. Yorktown and a member of the Sea wolves. He also spent time picking up astronauts as they came back from space. After being honorably discharged from the military, Chip lived in Grand Marais, MN until mov- ing to Westbrook, MN in 1998. Through the years, Chip worked for MNDOT as a snowplow driver and doing anything asked of him. He then worked for a short time for Cottonwood County as a jailer until retiring in 2000. After retiring, Chip continued to live in Westbrook until passing away at his home on November 14, 2009 at the age of 63. Chip was a member of the Westbrook VFW Post; the Odegaard-Quade American Legion Post 401, Jeffers; the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Chip enjoyed the out- doors which included being an avid fisherman and hunter. But most of all he enjoyed his family. Survivors include his daughter, Jody (Mike) Wolner, St. James; Chad Rudolph, Crosby; four grandchildren, Kaylyn, Olivia, Carter, and Peyton; his parents, Arthur "Buck" and Ella Giese, Windom; brothers, Dallas "Butch" Giese and his wife, Joan, Jeffers; Kent Giese and his wife, Mary, Duluth; Ann Rudolph; and many other relatives and friends. Margaret Mary Hoffmann Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret "Marge" Hoffmann, 84, of Marshall, was held Thursday, December 3, 2009, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Interment was Friday at assembly area one, Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Marge, 84, died on Monday, November 30, 2009, at the Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. Margaret Mary Hoffmann was born on April 4, 1925, to Philip and Clara (Schneider) Stalpes in Madison, MN. She attended school at St. Michael's in Madison. During World War II she worked at the Ammunitions Plant in Minneapolis. Marge married George J. Hoffmann of Marshfield, Wl on June 23, 1947 at St. Eloi Catholic Church, Ghent, MN. Marge and George lived in Ghent, Marshall, Watertown, SD, Pipestone, Walnut Grove and then retired in Marshall. Before moving to Pipestone, Marge worked at Baldwin's Printing for many years. While living in Walnut Grove, she owned a gift store - G & M Variety. Her faith was very important to her. She was active at Holy Redeemer Church and St. Paul's Church. She volunteered at the hospital gift shop and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Marge's family was most important to her. She was both a Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout Den Mother. She loved playing cards. She enjoyed embroidering and quilting. Survivors include her dau(thters Mary Jo (Gene) Bossuyt, Marshall and Jane (John) ( a 'lson, Golden Valley; her son Mark (Carmen) Hoffmann, Albany; 6 grandchildren; 6 great- granddaughters; brothers Donald (Kathleen) Stalpes, Fargo, ND, John (Peggy) Stalpes, Klamath Falls, OR; sisters-in-law Pat (Bud) Curwick, Waunakee, WI, Jackie Stalpes, Park Rapids; brother-in-law John Gossen, Monticello; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Pastor Mark Swanson officiated. Herbert-Reese #391 American Legion Post-Storden. Interment was at Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, Storden, MN. LaVae Donn Thynes was born December 30, 1931, in Storden Township, Cottonwood County, MN to Engel and Mabel C. (Polzin) Thynes. LaVae received his education in the Storden Public Schools; gradu- ating in the Class of 1949. He attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD and enlisted in the United States Navy in March of 1951. On August 22, 1952, LaVae was united in marriage to Georgina Blanch Azzopardi in Silema, Malta. LaVae was honorably discharged March-of 1955 and returned to Storden. He farmed until 1967 and owned Thynes ABC Grocery in Storden from 1967-1985. ln 1966, LaVae began his work for Minnesota Valley Breeder's (now known as Genex, Inc.), retiring July 2009. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer and was placed in hospice care at The Lodge on Summit Oaks in Burnsville, MN where he died November 27, 2009, at the age of 77 years. LaVae was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden where he served as a Sunday school teacher; a member of the Storden Fire Department; the Herbert-Reese #391 American Legion Post in Storden where he was past commander; the Commercial Club where he was treasurer. LaVae will be remembered for many things in life, including his humor and the way in which he was able to touch so many lives; but, most of all, LaVae will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife Georgina, Storden; children and their spouses, Richard (Dianne) Thynes , Willmar; JoAnn (Kent) Wolf, Jordan; Lynn (John) Nelson, Eau Claire, Wl; Mary (John) Fischer, Marshall; 10 grandchildren; 8 great- grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
