TEN YEARS AGO December 11, 1980 A group of seven attended "A Christmas Carol at the Lake Benton Theatre on Saturday evening. They. stopped at Tyler for their evening meal. Those attending were Anita Olson, Marg Ferguson, Lorraine Benson, Lee Kuehl, Lee Satter, Mabel Mischke, and Edna Miranowski. Mrs. Brent Baker (Deb) graduated from the Rochester Community College in the School of Nursing. Mrs. Mary Morken was the featured soprano at the "Messiah Sing" on Friday, December 5 at the First Lutheran Church in Marshall. Soloists were selected by audition and the event was sponsored by Southwest State University department of music. Mrs. Morken is music director at the Walnut Grove school. Mrs, Carrie Gilb returned home last Tuesday after spending Thanksgiving week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Christy at Kansas City. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dahlgren and family of Huron, SD spent Thanksgiving Day with his mother, Mrs. Anna Dahlgren and other relatives. A family dinner was held at the Oscar Stenberg home. Start Oestreich who is stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Station at Chicago, IL, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Oestreich. Janice Pemble was a dinner guest Thanksgiving Day in the Arthur Doubler home. FORTY Tuesday, December 4th evening The Tops Christmas Party was held at the Lynn Swanson home with 15 attending. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Lorenz drove to Sioux Falls on Saturday to visit their brother-in-law, Albert Anderson, who is a patient at Sioux Valley Hospital. Tuesday Emma Steffen and Helene Steffen of Lamberton were coffee guests at the Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Steffen home. Sunday afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Steffen attended the Community Chorus at Lamberton and were supper guests of Emma Steffen. Susan Lanners returned to her Grove Apartment after December 14, 1950 Ruth Ferguson, the eleven year old daughter of Dr. and Mrs. W.C. Ferguson won second place in a national contest on her essay and was notified Monday that she will receive a "Lone Ranger" suit as a prize. The local American Legion Post TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO December 2, 1965 Aviation Electronics Technician Third Class Michael C. Schnieder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Schnieder, is serving in the VietNam area aboard the attack aircraft carrier USS Oriskany, unit of the U.S. Seventh Fleet. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Scott and Mrs. Motley of Gillette, WY were Saturday evening guests in the Clem Van Hecke home. Thanksgiving. She spent time at the Ernie and Pattie Klimek in the cities. She also accompanied YEARS AGO Vincent and Kent Lanners on a deer hunting trip to Freeborn and Susan stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Becker. The Klimeks brought her home after Thanksgiving on the way she fell and broke her collar bone. Family and friends who have visited Susan Lanners at her apartment were Joe and Cecelia Becker, Brownsville, Marie will participate in the "Tide of Larsen, Tracy, Francis Breening, Toys" program again this year with Freeburg. Santa's visit with his big pack of goodies and the free movies at the Walnut Theatre are the highlights of the Christmas festivities Saturday and this is a big annual event for the little folks. ill I I I I Rachael Oestreich spent the weekend at the Larry and Judy Spencer, IA.
